Ankeny Centennial (15-3): In what has been a rare occurrence in 2024, Centennial hangs onto the top spot for a second consecutive week. The Jaguars dispatched of rival Ankeny, 3-1. They stormed forward after dropping the first set.   [player_tooltip player_id='215425' first='Jaeden' last='Pratt'] was money against the Hawks. The senior led Centennial in kills (16) and digs (18). [player_tooltip player_id='215464' first='Delaney' last='Miller'] filled up the stat sheet as well, registering 15 kills, 13 digs and 5.0 blocks. [player_tooltip player_id='758828' first='Sophia' last='Heither'] was credited with 10.0 blocks and eight kills, while Mia Lee-Butters posted 17 digs. Maegen Cheeseman handed out 36 assists.   This Week – 10/1 at Waukee, 10/3 at Valley, 10/5 at Urbandale tournament   2. Dowling Catholic (19-6): Dowling downed visiting Johnston, 3-0, last Tuesday before playing host to Omaha Scutt and Liberty two days later. The Maroons lost, 2-0, to the Nebraska volleyball power, but topped the Lightning, 2-1.   In the CIML matchup with the Dragons, [player_tooltip player_id='500340' first='Kaylie' last='Klein'] produced 12 kills, and [player_tooltip player_id='215724' first='Siri' last='Beecher'] logged 11. [player_tooltip player_id='215412' first='Ella' last='Rogers'] generated 35 assists, and [player_tooltip player_id='189864' first='Annalise' last='Grant'] had a team-best 12 digs. [player_tooltip player_id='215728' first='Kate' last='Nelson'], [player_tooltip player_id='215427' first='Ava' last='Groeteke'] and [player_tooltip player_id='389933' first='Ellie' last='Muller'] combined for 14 kills and 5.0 blocks.   This Week – 10/1 at Ankeny   3. Pleasant Valley (20-2): It was a 5-0 week for the Spartans. It included a conference win against Clinton and a title at the Mount Vernon Fall Classic on Saturday.   The marque victory of the week came against Mount Vernon, 21-18, 21-18. [player_tooltip player_id='490015' first='Mazie' last='Sweers'] contributed seven kills, four digs and a block to the cause, while Lauren Brohm and [player_tooltip player_id='389006' first='Carsyn' last='Kelley'] each delivered 10 assists.   This Week – 10/1 at Davenport North   4. Ankeny (25-4): The Hawks hold at No. 4 for another week after sweeping Southeast Polk and losing to top-ranked Ankeny Centennial in CIML competition.   [player_tooltip player_id='215465' first='Reagan' last='Hanfelt'] shined against the rival Jaguars with 16 kills, six digs and 4.0 blocks. [player_tooltip player_id='204525' first='Kamryn' last='Scheib'] and [player_tooltip player_id='215752' first='Olivia' last='Eike'] each collected eight kills with the former adding 13 digs. [player_tooltip player_id='207016' first='Baileigh' last='Carlsen'] rolled up 21 digs, and [player_tooltip player_id='555795' first='Gracyn' last='Adams'] and Miya Steinkamp teamed up for 40 assists.   This Week – 10/5 at Waverly-Shell Rock tournament   5. Cedar Falls (17-2): A 7-0 week for the Tigers was capped with Saturday's championship in their own tournament. They defeated Waukee Northwest and Cedar Rapids Prairie during the march to the title. They topped Cedar Rapids Jefferson in a MVC match last Tuesday.   During a 2-0 win against Prairie in Saturday's final, [player_tooltip player_id='389853' first='Kennedy' last='Krecklow'] recorded a team-highs in kills (13) and digs (8). [player_tooltip player_id='523167' first='Natalie' last=''] Schmadeke chipped in with seven kills and three digs, [player_tooltip player_id='261058' first='Brynn' last='Bakula'] had 20 assists and three digs. Anni Wedgbury and Mackenzie Urbanek led the show in the back row.   This Week – 10/1 vs Iowa City High   6. Indianola (20-3): Indianola moves up one spot this week after a 3-0 victory at Dallas Center-Grimes last Tuesday.   In that contest, [player_tooltip player_id='215466' first='Aspen' last='Nelsen'], [player_tooltip player_id='215470' first='Camryn' last='Overton'] and [player_tooltip player_id='389018' first='Lauren' last='Olson'] combined for 22 of the team's 39 kills. Nelsen added 19 assists and seven digs, and Overton produced a team-high 15 digs. [player_tooltip player_id='215469' first='Maci' last='Lerseth'] had 14 digs, and Dana Blake and [player_tooltip player_id='493609' first='Madison' last='Grover'] combined for nine kills and 9.0 blocks.   This Week – 10/1 at Newton, 10/5 at Urbandale tournament   7. Waukee Northwest (19-6): The Wolves fall one position this week after dropping a pair of matches at Saturday's Cedar Falls tournament. They went down against the hosts and Cedar Rapids Prairie. They began the week with a 3-1 win versus visiting Waukee.   In that match, [player_tooltip player_id='490013' first='Logan' last='Vogt'] led the team in kills (13) and shared the lead in digs (15). Cassidy Danburg pounded out 12 kills and added 3.0 blocks. [player_tooltip player_id='389019' first='Avery' last='Vogt'] (40 assists, 8 kills, 7 digs, 2.0 blocks), [player_tooltip player_id='490011' first='Leah' last='Janulewicz'] (15 digs), [player_tooltip player_id='389065' first='Anna' last='Pelds'] (11 digs) and [player_tooltip player_id='555820' first='London' last='Taylor'] (10 digs) also played key roles in the win.   This Week – 10/5 at Urbandale tournament   8. Waukee (10-12): A loss at rival Northwest was the Warriors' lone competition of last week. Bound metrics still show them with the toughest schedule played in 5A.   Against Northwest, [player_tooltip player_id='500115' first='Maggie' last='Craig'] and [player_tooltip player_id='443092' first='Malia' last='Rogers'] teamed up for 25 kills with the latter adding nine digs and 4.0 blocks. [player_tooltip player_id='443125' first='Liv' last='Davis'] recorded 34 assists and 10 digs, while [player_tooltip player_id='498752' first='Allie' last='Ruddy'] led the squad with 20 digs. [player_tooltip player_id='455721' first='Stella' last='Braddock'] had eight kills.   This Week – 10/1 vs Centennial   9. Iowa City Liberty (9-15): Another team under .500 on the season facing a loaded schedule, Liberty captured important victories against MVC competition last week. It started with a 3-1 win at Linn-Mar and ended with a 2-0 triumph against rival City High at Saturday's Mount Vernon tournament.   [player_tooltip player_id='215429' first='Asta' last='Hildebrand'] and [player_tooltip player_id='273001' first='Ellie' last='Wilson'] shared the team lead with 12 kills against Linn-Mar with the former adding 17 assists, 17 digs and 3.0 blocks. [player_tooltip player_id='316419' first='Edie' last='Miller'] posted 29 digs and 10 assists, while [player_tooltip player_id='316380' first='Hadley' last='Miller'] had 19 assists and 11 digs. [player_tooltip player_id='497594' first='Lucy' last='Maassen'] and [player_tooltip player_id='493985' first='Sydney' last='Van Heukelom'] combined for 14 kills in the four-setter.   This Week: 10/1 vs Western Dubuque   10. Cedar Rapids Prairie (19-9): If you read last week's rankings, you see that the Prairie Hawks escaped The Glob and claimed sole possession of the 10th spot. Their successful week included wins against Waukee Northwest and West Delaware. They reached the final of Saturday's Cedar Falls tournament before losing to the host in the championship match.   [player_tooltip player_id='215742' first='Carly' last='Wazac']'s nine kills and nine digs led Prairie to its signature win against defending state champion Northwest. Johanna Caspers and [player_tooltip player_id='261093' first='Reagan' last='Schulte'] each chipped in six kills, [player_tooltip player_id='447581' first='Grace' last='Knock'] had 14 digs and [player_tooltip player_id='221340' first='Taylor' last='Ray'] dished out 24 assists.
