With the top two clubs Metro and [program_tooltip program_id='476729' first='Paramount' last=''] playing in Baltimore at Charm City it was interesting to see who the winners at the various age groups would be at the National Harbor. My first guess would have been [program_tooltip program_id='494409' first='Blue' last='Ridge'] and they are the only club that won more than once at the Open level in the 14-18 age group.

You would think after losing [player_tooltip player_id='181302' first='Kennedy' last='Spaid'] and [player_tooltip player_id='181280' first='Brenna' last='Corbin'] that [program_tooltip program_id='494409' first='Blue' last='Ridge'] would struggle to continue their mastery of the class of 2026. That has turned out to be false. They lost just one set, in the third match of a round two pool to a New Jersey club Garden State Elite Volleyball Club 26-24. They bounced back to win the next two 25-17, 15-9. After that, the victories kept pouring in.

They picked up [player_tooltip player_id='325603' first='Parker' last='Sutherland'] to play middle and with [player_tooltip player_id='739911' first='Colette' last='Mercker'] also a quality middle that gives this [program_tooltip program_id='494409' first='Blue' last='Ridge'] team a different look. [player_tooltip player_id='320814' first='Alycia' last='Miller'] who used to play libero for this age group when [player_tooltip player_id='181280' first='Brenna' last='Corbin'] played up a year, returned to her libero role. If they lose anything it is not that noticeable. [player_tooltip player_id='525340' first='Olivia' last='Smith'] is a smaller outside but she can find the floor. And finally, [player_tooltip player_id='490057' first='Avery' last='Lefman'] is a solid setter. Colleges looking for some talented players who have yet to commit can find two in [player_tooltip player_id='739911' first='Colette' last='Mercker'] and [player_tooltip player_id='320814' first='Alycia' last='Miller']. Alycia was underexposed playing defensive specialist behind Brenna the last couple years and Collette lacks a heavy recruiting footprint.

[program_tooltip program_id='494409' first='Blue' last='Ridge'] downed Columbia Black in the semifinal, 27-25, 25-18 then swept past Crossover in the final 25-19, 25-20. Columbia carries two very capable setters in [player_tooltip player_id='698761' first='Imagine' last='Peltier'], who led Howard to a Maryland State championship this past season as well as [player_tooltip player_id='525341' first='Genevieve' last='Willis'] who ranks in the top 50 in the class of 2026. Crossover is a team from Pennsylvania.

VAVA finished tied for third after losing to Crossover. They have the 6'3" right side/middle [player_tooltip player_id='569730' first='Ava' last='Grilliot'] to create havoc in the front row as well as Paul VI setter [player_tooltip player_id='308751' first='Olivia' last='LeBlanc'].

MVSA has a roster of veterans who have grown up together. This allows them to gel as a team. [player_tooltip player_id='491007' first='Ana' last='Djordjevic'] fills the libero role while the middles bring some height. [player_tooltip player_id='465322' first='Siyena' last='Fitsum'] stands 6'3" while [player_tooltip player_id='772008' first='Meera' last='Patel'] is 6'1". [player_tooltip player_id='438097' first='Haile' last='Ma'] is one of the strongest outside hitters in the class of 2027 who can also play six rotations well.

They began the tournament with a 25-10, 25-14 sweep of [program_tooltip program_id='498081' first='Loudoun' last='Elite'] Tony then ended it with a 20-25, 25-23 and 15-10 win over [program_tooltip program_id='498081' first='Loudoun' last='Elite'] Quintin. It took three but they also beat [program_tooltip program_id='494409' first='Blue' last='Ridge'] in the semi-finals 25-27, 26-24, 15-8. Teams that play well together pull out those three setters.

[program_tooltip program_id='498081' first='Loudoun' last='Elite'] Quintin had a good tournament. They beat [program_tooltip program_id='476729' first='Paramount' last=''] Allorie in the semi-finals 25-10, 25-14. They are led by the undersized left side [player_tooltip player_id='536741' first='Lacey' last='Bogues']. Even at 5'8" she finds ways to consistently put the ball to the floor.

Paramount Allorie and [program_tooltip program_id='494409' first='Blue' last='Ridge'] finished tied for third. Paramount has 6'1" setter [player_tooltip player_id='730963' first='Maya' last='Berkowitz'] who made the first team in the Independent School League (ISL). They also seem well stocked in right sides with [player_tooltip player_id='390169' first='Katherine' last='Russell'] and [player_tooltip player_id='728965' first='Rhylie' last='Wheeler']. [program_tooltip program_id='494409' first='Blue' last='Ridge'] is led by [player_tooltip player_id='438086' first='Emmeri' last='Bishop'] and carries back row excellence with [player_tooltip player_id='437980' first='Katherine' last='Madden'] and [player_tooltip player_id='521531' first='Natalie' last='Huck'].

They were fortunate to make the gold bracket. A loss to [program_tooltip program_id='431413' first='Braddock' last='Road Youth Club'] left the bracket in a three way tie for first. The same results occurred in the second pool with the Libero Huskies. The tie breaker gave first place to [program_tooltip program_id='494409' first='Blue' last='Ridge'] and the Libero Huskies where they would battle it out for the gold medal. [program_tooltip program_id='494409' first='Blue' last='Ridge'] won the match 25-21, 18-25, 15-7.

Libero has been doing well in tournaments. From what I have seen they have made it to the top four but have yet to reach that gold medal stand.
This is their second consecutive 15 U Open National Harbor championship for this Maryland Juniors team. Last year they won it when they were 14 U but with a different cast of characters. Despite losing a number of players to Metro they still have some returners they can rely on for consistency. The 6'0" [player_tooltip player_id='748487' first='Sierra' last='Thomas'] is one of the top ranked players in the class of 2029. With an approach jump that falls just short of reaching 10'5' her game has improved significantly since last season. She also has libero/ds [player_tooltip player_id='754613' first='Charlotte' last='Aus'] and [player_tooltip player_id='753079' first='Reagan' last='Barrett'] returning from last year's team to help trigger the offense.

Maryland Juniors swept past every team they played except [program_tooltip program_id='494409' first='Blue' last='Ridge']. [program_tooltip program_id='494409' first='Blue' last='Ridge'] took them to three sets both times they played them, the first time in pool play with a 15-12 win. They then won in the championship match after splitting 25-21 wins. Maryland Juniors was able to pour it on with a 15-5 set three win.

For [program_tooltip program_id='494409' first='Blue' last='Ridge'] 5 of their 7 matches went three. The only three set matches they failed to win was against Maryland Juniors. Their roster is led by outsides [player_tooltip player_id='877850' first='Kennedi' last='Bower'] and [player_tooltip player_id='749353' first='Brielle' last='Wolf'], setter [player_tooltip player_id='878688' first='Mckenna' last='Homans'] and middle [player_tooltip player_id='749349' first='Avery' last='Curtis'].

They could be a surprise club to watch this season. [player_tooltip player_id='754667' first='Katja' last='Nagy'] also appears on the watch list. [program_tooltip program_id='498081' first='Loudoun' last='Elite'] Tony took the fourth place finish. They went undefeated in pool play, sweeping past all their opponents including MOCO Menace. They currently have no player ranked in the class of 2029 but setter [player_tooltip player_id='899005' first='Adelena' last='Akers'] and outside [player_tooltip player_id='895641' first='Makenna' last='Stocks'] appear on my internal watch list.

For [program_tooltip program_id='476729' first='Paramount' last=''] Jazzmine they would have been challenged more playing at Charm City.
