It's hard to believe we're three weeks into the ride, but here were are.   While teams will decide it on the court, predicting who they will be is a fun exercise, for me, and, hopefully, you. We love rankings!   I'll be lining teams in the state's largest class, 5A, each Monday (or Tuesday) throughout the season. Here's how I see it three week into the campaign:   1. Waukee Northwest   The Wolves maintain a strong grip on the No. 1 ranking despite having a few losses on their resume. With other 5A teams in Iowa knocking each other off during a competitive season in the state's largest class, Northwest has been the most consistently solid, including pulling out a 3-2 CIML win at Dowling Catholic last week. [player_tooltip player_id='490013' first='Logan' last='Vogt'], an Iowa State pledge, has gotten her senior season off to a fantastic start with 147 kills (.289), 28.0 blocks and 107 digs in the first 40 sets. [player_tooltip player_id='493601' first='Piper' last='Ladwig'], [player_tooltip player_id='490011' first='Leah' last='Janulewicz']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/leah-janulewicz/"></a> and [player_tooltip player_id='545971' first='Avery' last='Cordes']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/avery-cordes/"></a> <a href="https://prepdig.com/player/avery-cordes/"></a> teamed up to terminate 274 kills. [player_tooltip player_id='555820' first='London' last='Taylor'] has picked up 156 digs, while [player_tooltip player_id='812248' first='Cassidy' last='Danburg']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/cassidy-danburg/"></a> has a team-best 52.0 blocks to go with 48 kills (.267).   2. Ankeny   The Hawks remain at No. 2 despite losing to Indianola and Hinton at the Waukee tournament on Saturday. They also looked really good in beating Valley, 3-1, in a CIML match last week, which is more telling. The Hawks own wins against Liberty, Pleasant Valley, Dowling, Assumption, Center Point-Urbana, Mount Vernon and other top teams as well. [player_tooltip player_id='732859' first='Elle' last='Isaacson']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/elle-isaacson-3/"></a>, [player_tooltip player_id='992194' first='Quinn' last='Roush']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/quinn-roush-2/"></a> and [player_tooltip player_id='490016' first='Raquel' last='Risk'] have combined for 295 kills, and Kellen Roush has 496 assists. [player_tooltip player_id='758787' first='Katelyn' last='Mescher']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/katelyn-mescher/"></a> picked up 215 digs.   3. Dowling Catholic   Dowling Catholic sticks at No. 3 this week. The Maroons played at a state-title level despite losing a CIML five-setter to defending 5A champion Waukee Northwest last week. They have CIML wins against Ankeny Centennial and Valley, and went 5-0 at the Linn-Mar tournament earlier this month. [player_tooltip player_id='730098' first='Caroline' last='Crane']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/caroline-crane/"></a> has paced a balanced Dowling attack with 178 kills (.470) in 52 sets. [player_tooltip player_id='500340' first='Kaylie' last='Klein'], [player_tooltip player_id='763850' first='Gianna' last='Stanfel']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/gianna-stanfel/"></a> and [player_tooltip player_id='845755' first='Kennedy' last='Klein']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/kennedy-klein-2/"></a> have combined for 327 kills. Katie Muller has piled up 48.0 blocks to go with 63 kills (.295), and freshman [player_tooltip player_id='790687' first='Hailey' last='Reinders']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/hailey-reinders/"></a> has 44.0 blocks and 32 kills.   4. Dallas Center-Grimes   Dallas Center-Grimes (18-0) checks in fourth again this week. The Mustangs swept Des Moines Christian in a Little Hawkeye Conference match and then won the championship at the Benton tournament with a 5-0 record after sweeping all 10 sets they played. [player_tooltip player_id='991341' first='Madison' last='Messerly']'s 167 kills (.245) in 56 sets have led the team, while [player_tooltip player_id='394331' first='Maggie' last='Leifker']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/maggie-leifker/"></a> was right behind her with 159 (.494). [player_tooltip player_id='730390' first='Ava' last='Smid']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/ava-smid/"></a> and [player_tooltip player_id='443085' first='Avery' last='Edgington']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/avery-edgington/"></a> together have added 219 kills. [player_tooltip player_id='493973' first='Gwen' last='Farley']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/gwen-farley-3/"></a> has collected 534 assists, 163 digs and 47 kills. [player_tooltip player_id='729146' first='Anna' last='Jackson']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/anna-jackson/"></a> had 198 digs.   5. Iowa City West   The fifth spot in the rankings remains the most difficult one to pin down. A case can be made for several teams in this tier. Iowa City West holds onto it for a second week in a row after recording an MVC sweep at Cedar Falls last Tuesday. The Trojans also own wins against Liberty, Assumption, Dowling and Bettendorf. That duo has combined for 202 digs as well. [player_tooltip player_id='610472' first='Josie' last='Austen']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/josephine-austen/"></a> and [player_tooltip player_id='533845' first='Taylor' last='Otte']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/taylor-otte/"></a> have teamed up for 172 kills. [player_tooltip player_id='555736' first='Lila' last='Eastvold']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/lila-eastvold/"></a> has 397 assists, and [player_tooltip player_id='540833' first='Izzie' last='McDonald']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/izzie-mcdonald/"></a> has picked up 156 digs.   6.
