Carolyn is my number one-ranked player in the class of 2029. Normally, frosh do not have a great impact on their team’s success, but Carolyn does not seem to have any problem acclimating to high school play against the older players.
Bishop O’Connell is ranked number 5 by USA Today in Region 2 (Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, D.C. and New Jersey), and the 6’0″ Carolyn Maria is one of the principal reasons for that success. She sets and hits right side for Bishop O’Connell, leading the team in hitting percentage at .407, second on the team in kills, assists and blocks while also third in services aces. She actually ranks 11th in the state of Virginia in hitting percentage (stats by MaxPreps), which means that when she is set, the ball normally hits the floor. Without her contributions, the team would fall far short of their current success.
Carolyn has also been getting some interest from Division I colleges after her performance for Metro. Her setting and offensive performance on the right side qualified Metro for an Open bid, where they finished 13th in the country. As a 14-year-old, her jump touch reached 9’9″. Her recently developed top-spin serve generates a number of aces. As her career develops, she will be one of the most highly sought-after recruits in the country.
