It's been an exciting ride to the end of the regular season. While a few tournaments remain over the next couple of days, playoff bracket play tips off on Monday.

All season, we've tracked the progress through weekly rankings in the state's two largest classes. We've reached the stage where it's your time to prove it on the court.

Before we get underway, let's have fun with rankings one last time. Here are the FINAL Prep Dig Iowa Class 5A Rankings for 2026:

1. Waukee Northwest

The Wolves won the best conference in the state with an 8-0 record. The defending Class 5A champions lost two matches all season and only one time to a school from Iowa. That was a 2-1 decision against Valley on Aug. 27. They've only dropped one set in the last month. Yeah, Waukee Northwest is in a class by itself right now. [player_tooltip player_id='490013' first='Logan' last='Vogt'], an Iowa State pledge, is enjoying a super senior season with 272 kills (.316), 43.0 blocks and 169 digs in 75 sets. [player_tooltip player_id='493601' first='Piper' last='Ladwig'], [player_tooltip player_id='490011' first='Leah' last='Janulewicz'] and [player_tooltip player_id='545971' first='Avery' last='Cordes'] have teamed up to terminate 515 kills. [player_tooltip player_id='555820' first='London' last='Taylor'] has picked up 267 digs, while [player_tooltip player_id='812248' first='Cassidy' last='Danburg'] has a team-best 88.0 blocks to go with 87 kills (.320).

2. Ankeny

The Hawks finish second after positing a 7-1 mark in the Central Iowa Metro League with the only setback occurring against Waukee Northwest. They beat Dowling Catholic twice, and also own wins against Liberty, Pleasant Valley, Assumption, Center Point-Urbana and other top teams as well. It's a strong resume. While Northwest enters the postseason as a heavy favorite to repeat, Ankeny is a team that can compete from a personnel standpoint. [player_tooltip player_id='730419' first='Hailey' last='Wiederin'] has racked up 376 kills (.397) in 88 sets, while [player_tooltip player_id='555797' first='Marlee' last='Ellison'] has 277 (.296). [player_tooltip player_id='732859' first='Elle' last='Isaacson'], [player_tooltip player_id='992194' first='Quinn' last='Roush'] and [player_tooltip player_id='490016' first='Raquel' last='Risk'] have combined for 421 kills, and [player_tooltip player_id='1046923' first='Kellen' last='Roush'] has 746 assists. [player_tooltip player_id='758787' first='Katelyn' last='Mescher'] picked up 292 digs.

3. Dowling Catholic

Dowling Catholic sticks at No. 3 with its only two CIML setbacks happening against Waukee Northwest and Ankeny. It could be argued that the Maroons gave Northwest its toughest conference contest before falling 3-2. They also collected an impressice list of wins, including besting Iowa City West, Ankeny Centennial, Liberty, North Polk and Pleasant Valley. [player_tooltip player_id='730098' first='Caroline' last='Crane'] has paced a balanced Dowling attack with 245 kills (.468) in 73 sets. [player_tooltip player_id='500340' first='Kaylie' last='Klein'], [player_tooltip player_id='763850' first='Gianna' last='Stanfel'] and [player_tooltip player_id='845755' first='Kennedy' last='Klein'] have combined for 464 kills. Katie Muller has piled up 64.0 blocks to go with 85 kills (.271), freshman [player_tooltip player_id='790687' first='Hailey' last='Reinders'] has 61.0 blocks and 48 kills, and Audree Gerke has 264 digs.

4. Dallas Center-Grimes

Dallas Center-Grimes (31-2) checks in fourth again this week. Iowa City West

The fifth spot in the rankings could be a place for debate, but Iowa City West has gone unbeaten in four matches against the next two teams in this rundown. The Trojans also ran through the Mississippi Valley Conference unbeaten during the regular season and the league tournament, where they downed Liberty, Western Dubuque and Iowa City High on Tuesday. They also own wins against Pleasant Valley, Johnston, Assumption, Dowling, Cedar Falls and North Polk. [player_tooltip player_id='360642' first='Sophia' last='Austen'] owns the team lead in kills at 284 (.294) with [player_tooltip player_id='754657' first='Cyan' last='Blommer'] close behind at 272 (.254) in 80 sets.
