Season Recaps: Iowa 16U Club Teams

Student-athletes have since turned their attention to trying out for next year's club teams and preparing for the rapidly-approaching prep season.   Once again, Iowa represented itself well on the club circuits. That bodes well for this fall, when high schools will march toward the state tournament in Coralville.   Here's a look at how teams in the 16U division performed this season:   UNITED 16-1 ELITE   Iowa Regional Finish: Champion   National Finish: Fifth out of 48 in National Division at USAV   Recap: United proved good from the get-go and then got better as the season advanced. It also played well on the bigger stages. United won 14 of 15 sets played in capturing an Iowa Regional title and posting a 7-2 record in finishing fifth in the National Division at USAV Nationals. Iowa State commitment [player_tooltip player_id='360642' first='Sophia' last='Austen'] kept getting better and impacting matches more through six rotations. [player_tooltip player_id='493660' first='Bailey' last='Simpson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='555725' first='Brielle' last='Trout'] were a productive pair in the middle of the net, and the same could be said about [player_tooltip player_id='403543' first='Addie' last='Bollier'] and [player_tooltip player_id='488579' first='Mavrik' last='Schweer'] in the back row. [player_tooltip player_id='489998' first='Belle' last='Seaman'] is one of the most consistently good setters around, and [player_tooltip player_id='273001' first='Ellie' last='Wilson'] is becoming one of the most reliable six-rotation performers in Iowa. Quality players like [player_tooltip player_id='493659' first='Adalyn' last='Kruse'], [player_tooltip player_id='493657' first='Addison' last='Allaman'] and [player_tooltip player_id='758765' first='Kendall' last='Yale'] filled important roles, which spoke to this team's depth of talent.   POWERPLEX BROGEAN   Iowa Regional Finish: Second   National Finish: Fifth out of 64 in American Division at USAV   Recap: PowerPlex came up short of a regional title, but there was no shame in finishing second to a really good United outfit. It proved that at USAV Nationals with a fifth-place finish in the American Division. Iowa State commitments and Waukee Northwest teammates, [player_tooltip player_id='490013' first='Logan' last='Vogt'] and [player_tooltip player_id='493601' first='Piper' last='Ladwig'], were steadily outstanding for Plex. [player_tooltip player_id='490002' first='Emma' last='Vanden Hull'] and [player_tooltip player_id='493973' first='Gwen' last='Farley'] formed a sound 1-2 punch at setter, and [player_tooltip player_id='490011' first='Leah' last='Janulewicz'] and [player_tooltip player_id='412719' first='Jenna' last='Harbour'] held it down in the back row. [player_tooltip player_id='490016' first='Raquel' last='Risk'], [player_tooltip player_id='394331' first='Maggie' last='Leifker'], [player_tooltip player_id='747361' first='Sidney' last='Rogers'], [player_tooltip player_id='443085' first='Avery' last='Edgington'] and [player_tooltip player_id='493609' first='Madison' last='Grover'] provided this team with a bevy of front-row volleyballers.   IMPACT 16-1 ELITE   Iowa Regional Finish: Third   National Finish: 17th out of 48 in Freedom Division at USAV   Recap: Impact showed noticeable improvement throughout the club campaign and was one of the grittier groups I scouted in this age division. Setter [player_tooltip player_id='443125' first='Liv' last='Davis'] does a wonderful job being a steady hand and keeping everyone connected. [player_tooltip player_id='443086' first='Brynn' last='Cibula'] is one of the state's more underrated six-rotation contributors, and [player_tooltip player_id='493608' first='Bailey' last='Snyder'] and [player_tooltip player_id='490004' first='Girona' last='Fengler'] took big steps forward in their development during club play. [player_tooltip player_id='745362' first='Dottie' last='Reed'], [player_tooltip player_id='730385' first='Allison' last='Ricke'], [player_tooltip player_id='493605' first='Kenlie' last='Erickson'] make plays in the front row, and [player_tooltip player_id='758787' first='Katelyn' last='Mescher'] is dependable libero.   UNITED 16-1 PREMIER   Iowa Regional Finish: Fourth   National Finish: DNP   Recap: United Premier was one of the feel-good stories of the Iowa Regional with a group of multi-sport athletes skilled in volleyball playing well together. Its performance gave United two of the top four teams at regionals for this age group. That's impressive. Kaitlin Loria, [player_tooltip player_id='555788' first='Kendra' last='Nolton'], [player_tooltip player_id='589347' first='Clarissa' last='Suhr'], [player_tooltip player_id='493983' first='Heather' last='Hingst'] and [player_tooltip player_id='493985' first='Sydney' last='Van Heukelom'] are underrated front-row performers, all of whom will be impact players this prep season. Paige Johnson, who stands out in the back at Marion, set for this team and did it well. <a href="https://prepdig.com/player/tenley-nixt-2/">[player_tooltip player_id='730492' first='Tenley' last='Nixt']</a> is reliable in the back row.   CIA BLACK   Iowa Regional Finish: Fifth   National Finish: 17 out of 62 in American Division at USAV   Recap: CIA regularly fields fundamentally sound teams and student-athletes. This squad exemplified that this season, finishing 5-2 at the Iowa Regional with its only setbacks coming against the Top 2 teams. It capped the campaign by winning the American Division Bronze A Bracket at USAV Nationals. [player_tooltip player_id='389853' first='Kennedy' last='Krecklow'] is one of Iowa's top six-rotation players, [player_tooltip player_id='702527' first='Ryanne' last='Brubaker'] is an intimidating middle, [player_tooltip player_id='493972' first='Tayah' last='Pollock']'s setting is consistently on point, and [player_tooltip player_id='493976' first='Kylee' last='Pexa'] and [player_tooltip player_id='443089' first='Emma' last='Minteer'] contribute to the cause all around the court. [player_tooltip player_id='533587' first='Carlea' last='Dagel'] in the middle, and [player_tooltip player_id='555781' first='Addisson' last='Hogan'] in the back, makes plays and limit mistakes.   ROCKETS 16R   Iowa Regional Finish: Sixth   National Finish: Ninth out of 137 in Premier Division at AAU   Recap: Few teams grew as much as 16R during the 2025 club campaign, impressively reaching the Gold Bracket in AAU Premier Division. It nicely incorporated news parts with a strong foundation. Libero Edie Miller, middle [player_tooltip player_id='493658' first='Hattie' last='Galloway'] and setter [player_tooltip player_id='316380' first='Hadley' last='Miller'] are among the best at their positions in Iowa, regardless of class. [player_tooltip player_id='755481' first='Layla' last='Green'] opens eyes with her leaping ability and athleticism, while [player_tooltip player_id='758812' first='Kaylee' last='Hagstrom']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/kaylee-hagstrom/"></a> and [player_tooltip player_id='758808' first='Dani' last='Piper'] are versatile contributors. [player_tooltip player_id='758827' first='Addison' last='Singsank'] is a setter on the rise.   SELECT MIZUNO   Iowa Regional Finish: Seventh   National Finish: 35th out of 75 in Open Division at AAU   Recap: I saw this team very early in the season and thought it had a chance to be pretty good. It showed that at AAU nationals, where it competed against top teams from around the country in the Open Division. [player_tooltip player_id='490015' first='Mazie' last='Sweers'] bounced back nicely from an injury that cost her the end of the high school season. [player_tooltip player_id='490009' first='Leah' last='Caffery'] is a super setter, and [player_tooltip player_id='493971' first='Allison' last='Toft'] is a monster in the middle of the net. [player_tooltip player_id='493970' first='Anistan' last='Holladay'] is a rising back-row talent, [player_tooltip player_id='493984' first='Kyla' last='Ramler'] can play multiple front-row spots well.   PLATFORM ADIDAS   Iowa Regional Finish: 13th   National Finish: 19th out of 24 in Liberty Division at USAV   Recap: Platform could get sideways at times this season, but at its best, it was really good. That's why it qualified for the Liberty Division at USAV Nationals, which isn't easy. [player_tooltip player_id='555746' first='Clare' last='Yeggy'] continues her assent up the rankings and could break out at PV this fall. [player_tooltip player_id='555771' first='Emmy' last='Burkhart'] and [player_tooltip player_id='555775' first='Alexis' last='Stilwell'] are emerging defensive specialists, and [player_tooltip player_id='555772' first='Grace' last='Danielson'] can make the same claim at setter and [player_tooltip player_id='555777' first='Quinn' last='Schroeder'] at the opposite pin. [player_tooltip player_id='555773' first='Liv' last='Barudin']'s front-row versatility stands out.   KARIOS 16 ALPHA   Iowa Regional Finish: DNP   National Finish: 27th out of 36 in Open Division at USAV   Recap: Karios Alpha qualified for the Open Division at USAV nationals, always an impressive feat.
