<p>Only two clubs qualified for bids in Open. Unlike the AAU, in the USAV teams must qualify to play in Open. That means playing in tournaments outside the DMV area against teams in other Regions. Only the top teams advance. For the Chesapeake and Old Dominion Region Metro and Paramount were the two clubs to advance to the Open Division. Last year Maryland Juniors put together a 14 team to qualify for Open, but most of those players moved this year to either Metro Travel or Metro National. </p>

<p>It was a good year for Metro. All their teams from 14-17 qualified for Open prior to the Chesapeake Regional Bid Championships. The Open Division in Junior Nationals is the gold standard. Only the Triple Crown can compare for the quality of competition. </p>

As the season has progressed their worst finish in a tournament has been 7th place in the Windy City Qualifier. Once you qualify for open the coaches get an opportunity to experiment with their lineup and keep the starters fresh. At the start of the season they had gone four tournaments without losing a set.</p>

They backed into a 7th place Show Me Qualifier Bid when the top six teams of the tournament had already won an Open bid. Sometimes it is not how you got to the dance that is important, but that you are in the dance. At that point you make an impact. A 37th place finish in the Triple Crown stood out. The Power Pool is made from the top 22 clubs so they almost fell within that.</p>

She really broke out playing for Woodbridge High School getting them close to playing in the State bracket. Unfortunately, they fell short of getting to that dance. Now that she is in the Open Junior Nationals dance it will be her time to shine.</p>

Erin falls under 6 feet and her approach jump falls short of 10 feet. However, her hits tally the same number of points when they hit the floor. They may not carry the same velocity, but they are hit with precision.</p>

Only two clubs qualified for bids in Open. Unlike the AAU, in the USAV teams must qualify to play in Open. That means playing in tournaments outside the DMV area against teams in other Regions. Only the top teams advance. For the Chesapeake and Old Dominion Region Metro and Paramount were the two clubs to advance to the Open Division. Last year Maryland Juniors put together a 14 team to qualify for Open, but most of those players moved this year to either Metro Travel or Metro National.
